NYPD Funeral
New York City police officer Wilbert Mora was remembered for his love for a job he had wanted since he was a boy, his gentle personality and his heroism during a St. Patrick's Cathedral funeral on Wednesday, two weeks after he was killed responding to a call.

Hundreds of mourners and New York police officers, dressed in pressed blue suits and white gloves, packed the iconic Manhattan cathedral.

As a motorcade brought Mora's body to its final resting place in Queens, fellow officers from near and far reflected on the solidarity that hopefully lightens the heavy burden of grief that rests on Mora's family -- grief now also carried on the shoulders of so many others who wear the shield.

No on-duty NYPD officer had been fatally shot since September 2019, when Brian Mulkeen was hit by a fellow officer's fire during a struggle with an armed man.
