Edu´s grandfather, from San Vicente Del Valle, dedicated part of his life to raising and caring for Iberian bees. With his cousin Andres they decided to continue taking care of them and today they has more than 60,000 bees and more than 8 hives. I have been fortunate to be able to accompany him and learn something that he also learned from his beloved grandfather. Now he carries on the tradition by teaching his children as well.

Spanish bee is a Western honey bee subspecies native to the Iberian Peninsula. It is also found in the Balearic Islands. They do not typically generate multiple queens in any given hive at swarming time. Their movements are fast and rather nervous. They exhibit quick defensive reaction, nervousness, and a propensity to swarm
